Saltwash

Saltwash® is a powder to add to your paint, very easy to use and will create a unique look that will wear away with time, sun and salt in just three quick steps!  Made with real sea salt, Saltwash® paint products dry quickly and adhere to all surfaces.

You will find written details below and a series of videos to demonstrate what you can achieve with saltwash.

Saltwash® gives a multi-layered and textured effect when mixed with any type or brand of paint; e.g. chalk paint, milk paint, acrylic paint....

Mix Saltwash in an approximate ratio of 1:1, i.e. one volume of paint to one volume of Saltwash. This varies depending on the type of paint you are using.

Pour your paint into a container and add the number of Saltwash doses as you go until you reach a consistency similar to the "icing" of cakes. Mix your preparation every 2 to 4 tablespoons you add. 500 ml of paint is an excellent starting point for starting your Saltwash powder mixture.

To get the right consistency, follow the dosage table provided in the photographs, depending on the type of paint you are using.

Then the fun begins....Apply your mixture to any furniture or other surface by tapping with a brush, over the entire surface or only a few parts depending on the desired finish. As soon as the mixture starts to dry, smooth the peaks more or less with your brush. Allow to dry completely. Then apply one or two coats of paint of a different colour. Allow to dry. Then sand, more or less according to your taste, by hand or with a sander, so that the layer of Saltwash appears underneath. You can opt for a colourless wax finish if the type of paint you are using recommends it, otherwise leave it as it is. Apply a dark or black wax patina for an even more weathered look.
