Candle Care

Here at L'Atelier Vintage Vert we are passionate about the quality of our candles. The estimated burn times and wieght for our Jars are (+/- 50 hours) 220g and our tins are (+/- 40 hours) 190g.  This is dependant on a number of things.  Firstly how you care for your candle also the conditions in the room you burn it, temperature, drafts etc and also on the fragrance. Our candles are made from high quality ingredients, they are vegan friendly and cruelty free.

This guide is designed to help you get the most from you candles and ensure you burn them safely.

Warning

Light your candle in a well ventilated room free from drafts as drafts can cause sooting and rapid and uneven burning.  To prevent fire and serious injury, never leave a burning candle unattended.  Keep lit candles out of reach of children and pets. Never burn your candle on or near anything that can catch fire. Always leave at least 10cm between lit candles.  Protect the surface where you burn the candle with a heat-resistant holder. Our VV range comes with a lid that can be used as a coaster for your candle as well as a dust cover.  Only burn the candle on a level, fire resistant surface.

Taking Care of your Candle

Burn your candle for between 3 and 4 hours until the wax has melted across the candle to the edges.  The time it will take to achieve this is dependant on the temperature of your room and that you have not placed your candle in an area where there is a draft from windows or drafts caused by people walking past the candle.  If you do not allow the wax to pool to the edges your candle will tunnel and leave a build up of wax at the edges of the jar or tin, this will reduce your burn time.  If you leave your candle burning for too long (over 4 hours) this will cause your wick to move our slant

You should extinguish your candle with a snuffer and then straighten and centre your wick and leave the candle to cool.   If whilst burning your candle you see a flaming wick close to the edge of the jar or tin please extinguish your candle and straighten the wick to prevent damaging the jar or tin.

Keep the candle free from any foreign objects like wick trimmings or matches as they will catch alight and burn your candle quicker.

After your extinguish your candle leave it to cool before touching or moving it as it can become very hot.  Your candle should be completely cool before you re-light.  When the wax has set you should trim your wick to just under 1cm.  Trimming is very important as long and crooked wicks create smoke and high flames and will cause your candle to soot and burn quicker.

When you are not burning your candle, keep it covered with the protective lid this will help to preserve its scent and keep it free from dust.

Make sure you stop burning your candle when there is only 1cm of wax left, please monitor your candle closely when the wax runs low.

When your candle has finished remove the wax residue by putting your jar or tin in the fridge for a few hours and then gently tapping the wax inside to loosen it.

Failure to follow instructions could result in a fire hazard.

Now you know how to take care of your candle we hope it will bring you many hours of pleasure.
